Huacachina is a small town or oasis near Ica. Its nearly a suburb. The town features a Lake at its center instead of a plaza. The lake is surrounded by the houses of the town for 1 block in each direction. After that its sandunes which rival the sahara for scenery (OK I´ve never been there). Huacachina features on the back of the 50 soles note. We went there to relax for a couple of days. Our taxi driver from Ica offered to take us on a wine- and pisco tour. Which we greatfuly took up after a days lazing around the pool and wandering the sandunes. Peruvian wine is terrible to european taste. Even dry wine is sweet and semiseco is nearly unbearable. But the Pisco is very good and we actualy bought a couple bottles without hesitation. We saw 2 industrial type wineries and one which made wine and brewed pisco in the tradional ways (And had and excelent kitchen as well). A good day out starting to drink at 11 AM.
