Cusco 27.02.06 - 28.02.06 & 03.03.06 - 04.03.06

We arrived in Cusco by train from Puno. Finally a different mode of transport. We arrived in the evening after a tiring day. So there wasnīt much we wanted to do that evening. We spent the 28.02.06 looking around the historic part of town. with the churches built on Inca walls. We visited some museums and of course the markets and crafts workshops. 01.03.06 we took the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) but that is a separate page. Once back from Machu Picchu we visited the local sites in the Sacred Valley all within 50 km from Cusco. These sites especially Ollantaytambo and Pisac were very nice, but not as stunning as Machu Picchu itself. So in hindsite we should have visited these first. We travelled the Sacred Valley with the local bussystem. That was a fun experience itself as these buses donīt seem to have a limit of people they carry. If someone wantīs on they get on somehow. Not mentioning the tied up goat on the roofrack for 1 journey.
